Penny pullers
Heavy, thick-bladed shears without a pipe grabber, made for pulling cane.
What it is
Penny pullers are big shears with thick blades that won’t flex. Cutting Edge Products’ version is slightly larger than its Big Combo diamond shear, and the pipe grabber (the notch most diamond shears have at the tip) has been left off.[1]
How it’s used
They were first made for cane pulling.[1]
History
Cutting Edge says its penny pullers weren’t a big seller at first, but requests returned “with the surge in popularity of borosilicate glass tube production and making Murrini”, and the company brought them back.[1]
