Ring tools
Also called marble tools
Rings on a handle that are run around a bit of glass to round it into a sphere or marble.
What it is
A ring of a set diameter on a handle. Jim Moore makes them in nine sizes from 1-1/8” to 2-7/8”;[1] Leviathan GlassWorks makes them with replaceable rings from 1.5” to 5”.[2]
How it’s used
To make a sphere, the glassblower runs the ring around the bit as it rolls back and forth on the bench; after a few passes, in Jim Moore’s words, “you’ll have a new perfect marble”.[1]
