Hand torches

Also called hot torch

Propane torches held in the hand for spot-heating a piece at the bench.

What it is

A hot-shop hand torch is a burner on a handle, fed by a hose. Exact’s kits, sold by Olympic Color Rods, include a trigger handle with a pilot valve, an extension tube, an open burner tip, a hose, a regulator, and a striker, ready to connect to a propane bottle.⁠⁠[1] Carlo Donà’s are sized by number of flames, from 6 to 64.⁠⁠[2]

How it’s used

Jasen Johnsen’s mid-range hot torch, built on a Nortel bench burner, has a loop for hanging it on a gas saver between uses.⁠⁠[3]
