Crescent shears
Shears with crescent-shaped blades, revived from early American factory tools, that cut cleanly with a different finish from diamond shears.
What it is
Watanabe Glass Tools’ crescent shears are inspired by an antique pair in the maker’s own collection, most likely from an early 20th-century American glassblowing factory.[1]
How it’s used
They cut very cleanly and leave a different-shaped finish from traditional diamond shears; Watanabe uses them for cutting color bar, bits, and handles.[1]
History
When the maker came upon the antique pair, there was no modern version available, so he began making them.[1]
