Color bar and murrini choppers
Bench-mounted cutters for chopping color bar into chunks and cane into murrini slices.
What it is
Choppers are levered cutters. Spiral Arts’ color bar chopper is about 18” × 13”;[1] Hegan’s murrini chopper cuts four 1/2” canes at a time, adjusts in height to chop color bar too, and has replaceable blades with four cutting edges each.[2]
How it’s used
They break expensive color bar into usable chunks without wasting it[1] and cut cane into murrini. Hegan notes that how cleanly the ends cut depends on how well the cane or bar is annealed and how well its colors fit.[2]
